They say that the key to having a good life is making the best out of every experience, but I'm sure there are some exceptions to this saying. For example, making the best out of what life throws at you after being slammed with an Interpol Red Notice probably isn't going to make your life significantly better in the near future. But it seems like that's exactly what Terraform Labs' co-founder Do Kwon is doing despite the Seoul Southern District Proescutors' Office announcing yesterday (26 September) to AFP that Interpol will be issuing an Interpol Red Notice against the South Korean. For those who don't know who I'm talking about, Kwon's company is responsible for a cryptocurrency crash worth more than US$60 billion (approximately S$86 billion) due to the crash of the Luna and TerraUSD (also known as UST) cryptocurrencies. As of now, Kwon and five other individuals have been accused of various crimes, including breaches of capital markets law. And here's everything else you need to know, including what this man with a Don Don Donki-sounding name has to do with Singapore before we get started: Well, even though such a notice would probably prompt most of us to go into hiding if we were Kwon, he's clearly not like us. Recently, Kwon, 31, took to Twitter to tweet about how he is, in fact, not on the run. Kwon's Tweets Just last week, Kwon started off a Twitter thread on 18 September with the following tweet: Dear CT - I will tell you what i am doing and where i am if: 1) we are friends 2) we have plans to meet 3) we are involved in a gps based web3 game Otherwise you have no business knowing my gps coordinates — Do Kwon 🌕 (@stablekwon) September 17, 2022 In the tweet, he said that people "Have no business knowing GPS coordinates" if they are not his friends, have no plans to meet with him and are not gaming in a GPS-based game with him. Well, I'm not saying that it's a bad thing to reveal all the conditions that someone would need to fulfil if they want to gain full access to your exact location, but still... Thereafter, he also posted a series of other tweets, including this one: I am not “on the run” or anything similar - for any government agency that has shown interest to communicate, we are in full cooperation and we don’t have anything to hide — Do Kwon 🌕 (@stablekwon) September 17, 2022 In particular, Kwon repeatedly insisted that he is not running away from the authorities and that he has "nothing to hide". "We are in the process of defending ourselves in multiple jurisdictions - we have held ourselves to an extremely high bar of integrity, and look forward to clarifying the truth over the next few months," he added in another tweet. More About the Search for Kwon Prior to Interpol's notice being put out, the South Korean authorities had already began asking for "law enforcement worldwide" in order to aid in the arrest of Kwon. An arrest warrant was thus issued afterwards by prosecutors in Kwon's home country after they confirmed that there was "circumstantial evidence of escape" ever since he flew from South Korea to Singapore. The prosecutors had also "taken issue" with how Kwon said that he was cooperating with the relevant authorities. Apart from that, the authorities had also requested for Interpol to place him on the red notice list and for the foreign ministry in Seoul to revoke Kwon's passport which would force him to return to South Korea. Apparently, he had arrived in Singapore in around May before his cyrptocurrency crashed since TerraLuna is registered in Singapore. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed on 17 September that Kwon is currently not in Singapore, but told AFP in a statement that it "will assist the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) within the ambit of domestic legislation and international obligations". Prior to this, it was also reported that Kwon was trying to apply for a new Employment Pass (EP) in Singapore since his current one will be expiring this December.
