She shared that her son was an extrovert and loved to ask questions about everything. As such, she wanted to teach her son from scratch and learn together with him. On top of that, she was also trying to view the world through the lens of a child. When Mr Cai asked Lin if she would consider returning to the entertainment industry once her son was grown up and no longer needed her, Lin was firm in her response. Shaking her head, she asked Mr Cai what age he thought that would be and to match that against her current age. Some simple maths would reveal that it would no longer be possible to return to the entertainment industry. Lin also emphasised that she wanted to remain as the youthful Lin Chi-ling jie jie (older sister) in everyone’s hearts, even when her hair turned grey. She also wanted to be remembered as a gentle person with silky black hair and a ready smile for everyone. During the interview, Mr Cai also asked Lin about her willingness to appear in ad hoc entertainment events. Lin then revealed that it would depend on the circumstances, as she was open to attending charity events. She also candidly said that she no longer wished to be in the public eye, where people could “make comparisons” between her and others.
