Lest you’re not aware, there’s a new rule in town: if you’re coming back from any part of China, or Daegu or Cheongdo in South Korea, or coming back from somewhere but has been in the regions mentioned, you’d be imposed with a Stay-Home Notice once you step back into Singapore.
A Stay-Home Notice means you can’t step out of your house for 14 days—not even to buy food. If you’re a smoker, good luck to you: let’s just hope that you can smoke in your house or simply take this opportunity to quit smoking.
Your employer will get $100 a day, so you’d most likely still be paid as per usual unless you work for a nasty boss who likes to see the world burn.
Prior to that, people who’ve been to China and were re-entering Singapore were given 14-day Leave of Absence instead, whereby they can’t go to work but can go out of the house for a while just to buy food or groceries. The scheme “levelled up” to Stay-Home Notice from 18 February 2020.
But someone decided to “level up” himself; after being given the Stay-Home Notice, he didn’t just leave his house—he left the country.
I don’t know what’s going on in his mind but here’s what went on in the real world.
Man Breached Stay-Home Notice & Even Tried To Take a Plane Off S’pore
A 45-year-old Singapore PR had been to China recently and just came back to Singapore last Thursday—two days after the SHN was active.
And because of that, he was served the SHN the moment he arrived in Changi Airport.
The man then stayed home for 14 days, left the house on the 15th day and lived a happily-ever-after life.
But no, of course he didn’t do that.
Instead, he became uncontactable: ICA officers had been trying to call him and even went to his house to check, but he had disappeared into thin air.
On 23 February 2020, he then rematerialised in Changi Airport.
Maybe he was stuck in the airport toilet for four days?
Apparently not; by then, ICA officers found him and warned him that he had breached the requirements of SHN.
The man then said he was stuck in the toilet for four days and his phone was dead, so he went home after that and on the 15th day, he left his house and lived a happily-ever-after life.
No, he didn’t do that as well.
Instead, he insisted on leaving Singapore.
Only God and this man know why he had wanted to leave the country so badly.
His nationality isn’t revealed, nor are any details pertaining to his mysterious man.
But because the man is as selfish as the Crazy Ajumma in South Korea, he has now lost his Singapore PR.
ICA said that due to his “wilful breach”, it has rejected the man’s application for the renewal of his re-entry permit, which allows a person to retain his PR status while outside of Singapore.
And as mentioned, no one knows why the man is in such a rush. Is he on his way to heavens because there are not enough seats there or what?
Here’s a simplified summary of the South Korea martial law that even a 5-year-old would understand:
