NUS may have inadvertently hogged majority of the recent headlines, but it appears that Yishun is not far behind.
According to various news reports, yet another grisly incident has been reported in the infamous residential town:
A bloody fight between two middle-aged parties that involved a chopper and a distinctly half-naked man.
Half-Naked Man Found Bloody at the Bottom of the Block in Yishun After a Chopper Fight at Midnight
According to Stomp, a fight had broken out in Yishun on Saturday (10 April 2021).
It reportedly occurred at Block 722 Yishun Street 71, two to three hours after midnight.
According to the news report, the two men, aged 36 and 40, had to be sent to the hospital for treatment.
“The 40-year-old man was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon,” police added.
Stomper Tony, who happened to witness the scene, stated that one of the men had been stabbed with a chopper.
He told Stomp: “There were two men shouting at each other. My son went over to the lift lobby and saw both men struggling with a chopper in the lift.
“One of the men later leaned against my car and left bloodstains on the boot. Fortunately, no glass was broken and nobody died.”
In a series of photos shared with Stomp, a half-naked man could be seen on the ground as paramedics carry out medical treatment.
Bloodstains were also present in a lift.
Police investigations are currently ongoing.
Previous Instances
Unfortunately, fights with stabbing involved are more prevalent than one would’ve hoped.
In December 2020, a massive fight had occurred at Clarke Quay, with some of the combatants involved in an alleged stabbing.
At around 10:40pm on 19 Dec, the police were alerted to reports of a fight along Eu Tong Sen Street among a two groups of people.
Videos circulating around of the incident showed the two groups screaming, some even hurling expletives at the others. You can read more about the fight here.
Two people were found injured at the scene, a 27-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, who were then tended to and sent to hospital. However, the assailants had run away before the police arrived.
Apparently, the victims were just innocent bystanders who got caught up in the mess.
Later on, the Singapore Police Force shared a statement saying that a 40-year-old man had been arrested for his suspected involvement in the fight following on-scene investigations. He had been found hiding out in an alley near Carpenter Street bearing injuries.
Four other people aged between 21 and 34 were also arrested following investigations for allegedly rioting and causing assault with a deadly weapon during the fight.
After announcing that they were on a manhunt for the remaining combatants, the Police has now arrested seven more suspects, bringing the total number of arrested suspects to 12 people.
And as recently as a few weeks ago, the police were alerted to a stabbing incident at a residential unit along Bedok Reservoir Road at around 10:15am.
When officer arrived on the scene, they found a man lying motionless in the residential unit.
The 49-year-old man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time, another 49-year man was arrested for his suspected involvement in the murder.
Naing Lin, the 49-year-old suspect, was later charged in court today (5 Apr) for murdering the victim.
Lin is believed to have stabbed the victim, though no further information on the weapon used was disclosed to the public.
