SBS (not the bus company, but Seoul Broadcasting System) never fails to shock us with their decisions, again and again.
Last month, it was revealed that Running Man would be cancelled, primarily due to the controversies surrounding how the producers have handled a revamp that involved axing Song JiHyo and Kim Jong Kook, and a drop in ratings.
Now, all of a sudden, the show is officially uncancelled.
According to Koreaboo, and various Korea media, the broadcasting company suddenly issued a statement.
Running Man will continue to air with all the members in place!!
Due to the overwhelming sadness of fans in and outside of Korea over the end of Running Man, SBS and the 6 members have decided to continue the series of Running Man.
SBS Chief of Headquarters Nam Seung Yong who originally created the show Running Man in 2010 met with the members from the beginning of the year until recently to have deep conversations.
Through these conversations he apologized to the members over and over again on the incidents that happened during the re formatting of the show and the 6 members agreed to stay on the show.
For the record, Gary Kang isn’t coming back.
Here’s what Nam Seung Yong, one of the early producers of the show, has to say.
I sincerely thank the Running Man members who made the difficult decision to stay on the show, and in order to repay the fans who loved and supported Running Man for the last 7 years we will do our best to make Running Man even more enjoyable than it has been.
Which of course, leads us to wonder: is it all merely a publicity stunt, after their massive drop in ratings? After all, the ratings rose upon the announcement of the cancellation last month.
Then again, it doesn’t matter: what matters is that our Mondays aren’t going to change, after all.
