And like its other massive outlets, its upcoming Clarke Quay branch will occupy a large space that takes up most of the mall’s Basement 1 level.

It will also reportedly be opening “soon”, with a rep for the company revealing that they’re still in the midst of finalising the branch’s opening date and the range of products available there.

Must-buy products to get from Don Don Donki

Lest you’re wondering that, here’s a thoughtful piece from my colleague.

From food to electronics and quirky products like cosplay costumes, Don Don Donki’s product offerings are pretty much similar to that of Don Quijote in Japan, apart from the extensive range of course. It’s impossible to fit 8 levels worth of products across a few units considering the land scarcity in Singapore.

The following are some products you have to purchase in Don Don Donki (if they’re available in the new store, that is):

Sweet potato

If you can only get one item, this normal-looking but sweet tasting Japanese sweet potato is your best bet. The one in Singapore tastes pretty good but man, the OG sweet potato sold in Japan is invincible. These cost less than S$3 per piece.

Horoyoi Shochu Cocktail (Cola)

Suntory is an all-rounded F&B company that offers both soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. This unique concoction consists of cola and an alcohol level of 3%, perfect for those with low alcohol tolerance. It is for sale at S$3.50

Fresh meat

A carnivore by nature, I’m automatically drawn to this section of the store every single time I visit Don Don Donki. With so many meat options to choose from for about S$10, it’s hard to just walk by without taking a quick look.

Fresh seafood straight from Japan

Attention sushi and sashimi lovers, THIS is your go-to place for a quick jap fix. Best of all – if you go late at night, chances are they’ll be clearing stocks and you’ll be able to get your favourite snack at a discounted price.

Sixth of ten outlets

According to Mothership, the Clarke Quay branch will be their sixth outlet in Singapore.

The five other outlets are situated at Square 2, City Square Mall, Orchard Central, 100AM and the Sweet Potato Factory at Jewel Changi.

It was initially reported that the Japanese chain plans to have 10 stores in Singapore by 2020.

Whether one will be implemented closer to your residence, however, will remain to be seen. Though of course…
