Much like traffic lights, speed bumps, and bicycles, it’s not uncommon to see middle fingers on the road.
The problem is that they’re typically attached to the hand of an angry motorist.
When drivers flash this particularly-vulgar finger, it’s usually because they feel they have been wronged in some way. Examples include other motorists not giving way or nearly causing an accident.
In this incident, however, it was the offending party who flashed his middle finger. And the recipient of this obscene gesture was not pleased, to say the least.
Driver Went into Rage After Teen Pointed Middle Finger At Him
Footage of the incident was shared on the Facebook page ROADS.sg yesterday. The incident is believed to have occurred at Dahlia Condominium at around 7:30pm on Saturday (30 Oct).
The video begins with a car exiting a multi-storey carpark at the condo. The male driver can be seen driving up the slope.
As he approaches the end of the slope, he sees a boy on a bicycle riding along the slope, and slows down. The boy’s father was near him at the time.
In this situation, most of us would hold our hand up or apologise, right? But, inexplicably, the young rider chose to flash his middle finger instead.
“You’re pointing at me for what?” the incredulous driver asks the boy. His father answers instead, and the driver redirects his question to the older man.
Calling it a “very rude” gesture, the driver demands to know why the boy flipped him off. In response, the boy’s father says he was just “mistaken”.
Yes, I meant to show you my index finger for no reason, but my middle finger accidentally popped out.
The driver once again asks the boy why he flashed his middle finger, and it’s only at that point that the father asks if this actually happened. It’s unclear what the boy says, but the driver then informs the man that the incident was captured on his dashboard camera.
“Okay, he’s mistaken, he’s a kid,” the father says.
“You’re a kid but you have no upbringing at all”, the driver retorts.
This seems to upset the boy’s father, who shouts “Ya, I know that!” when told that he has to teach his son some manners.
This, in turn, upsets the driver, and now he starts shouting.
The father eventually gets his son to say sorry, but the driver is still incensed that the father shouted at him, so he keeps shouting.
What follows can only be described as a violent assault on all ears within a 50km radius, as the man yells at the top of his lungs. If you have trouble playing the video, just picture the Hulk as a voiceover artist.
The driver demands an apology, threatening to get out of his car and presumably start a fight if he doesn’t get it.
The video ends there, however, so it’s unclear if the two men managed to resolve the conflict.
One thing’s for sure, though: that boy will never flash his middle finger at anyone for the rest of his life.
