To Singaporeans, news of coffee shop altercations are nothing new and not an uncommon thing.
I’m pretty certain that you’ll hear old men arguing over weird stuff if you go to a nearby coffee shop at around 10 pm.
And hey, I think it’s part of the Singapore experience.
In some cases, these altercations turn extremely violent(especially when there’s alcohol involved) and it’s times like this you should probably haul ass.
However, have you ever wondered how easy it is for an altercation to happen?
On 24 Dec, at around 1.50 am, a 50-year-old customer took a steak knife and lashed out at the manager of a coffee shop at Block 681, Hougang Avenue 8.
One would simply wonder if the manager did something to offend the customer or if the manager actually owed the customer money. After all, the customer actually attacked him with a knife.
However, those were not the case.
It was over a cup of ice.
Apparently, the customer was infuriated that he had to get a cup of ice on his own as the coffee shop has a “self-service” policy.
Wow, this man needs to take a chill pill.
A police spokesman said that the steak knife wielding perpetrator has been arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons or means. Investigations are ongoing at the moment.
At the time of the altercation, the man appeared to be drunk.
The altercation ended after two regular customers stepped in to break up the fight.
These are the heroes we need. Although we have no idea how they broke up the fight, I think we can all agree that things might have gone far south if not for them!
The manager of the coffee shop suffered a superficial wound on her left shoulder. However, when offered to be taken to a hospital by SCDF, she declined.
Well, what do we have here? Another act of folly committed under the influence of alcohol. Some people really shouldn’t be allowed to drink. Personally, I find drunkards to be more of a hazard than children with a garden hose.
That being said, please drink responsibly and not hurt those around you. If you feel that you or anyone around you need help, feel free to reach out to organisations such as Alcoholics Anonymous Singapore.
Please don’t hurt the people you love (or anyone, for that matter).
Since you’re here, why not watch a video about a guy who lodged a Police report here in Singapore because he was friendzoned? Seriously. Here, watch it and do remember to share it (and also subscribe to Goody Feed YouTube channel)!
