Ever since our latest community outbreak, the authorities have been taking no chances.
Even if a bee coughs at a playground, you can be assured that the entire HDB block will be tested for COVID-19.
This is a good thing, of course: the more we test, the more undetected infections we uncover.
And the more infections we uncover, the higher our chances of travelling to Hong Kong.
Reader: Okay, now you’re being a little too optimistic.
Recently, Bukit Merah and Redhill have been the two areas where the authorities have been carrying out widespread COVID-19 testing due to clusters and outbreaks there.
Now, they’re focusing on a village. Enabling Village, that is.
Public Spaces at Enabling Village in Redhill to Undergo Deep Cleaning After Cleaner Contracts COVID-19
The COVID-19 infection of a cleaner working at Enabling Village has prompted the authorities to take precautionary measures.
Public spaces and one block at the coaching centre will undergo deep cleaning today (22 Jun) to prevent the disease from spreading further.
Consequently, the Information and Career Centre at the Nest Block will be closed till 5 July.
The operating hours for some tenants at the Academy Block may also be affected, including NTUC FairPrice, Professor Brawn Cafe, as well as Samsui Supplies and Services.
For those who don’t know, Enabling Village is a community and social business hub jointly managed by SG Enable and the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).
2 New Clusters in Bukit Merah View
SG Enable said that the 63-year-old cleaner who got infected worked at the Academy Block in Enabling Village.
He is linked to a new cluster of five cases at 119 Bukit Merah View.
The other new cluster, also reported yesterday, is at 121 Bukit Merah View. It’s made up of three previously reported cases that are now linked.
All are retirees aged 86, 83, and 80 respectively.
