Wake up babes, Famous Amos is now Halal-certified.
Iconic Cookie Now For Everyone
On Tuesday (15 Nov), Famous Amos announced that all their 17 outlets have received the halal certification from Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS).
Wait, so they weren’t halal-certified this whole time?
Well, yeah, but Famous Amos made sure to only use halal-certified ingredients for their bakes, so technically, though not officially halal, they were Muslim-friendly.
Naturally, commentators were overjoyed with the news, with some also unaware of Famous Amos not being certified.
One commenter even use this opportunity to call out Starbucks to go get themselves certified.
Wait, Starbucks isn’t Halal-certified?
According to its website, yes: it’s indeed not:
So it’s similar to Famous Amos before 15 November.

To celebrate the end of school, Famous Amos is selling 400g of their cookies at only $20.90 for this month.

Getting Halal-Certified
Though there are some restaurants and food chains that are still not properly certified (E.g. Starbucks, Five Guys and Shake Shack), others had actually made the effort to obtain the Halal certification.
In 2019, WOK HEY obtained Halal certification, which subsequently widen the popular stir-fry’s customer base.
In 2020, A&W has officially been halal-certified by MUIS, even though a few months prior to the announcement, MUIS tweeted that the American food chain was not halal-certified and that they are not progressing with any application at the moment.
