Last Seen Answering Phone Call and Walking Toward Glass Barrier

The accident happened at Tiong Bahru Plaza around 3 pm on 27 January, Friday.

An eyewitness said that she saw the Chinese man, who looked like he was in his 20s or 30s, in a coffee shop, where he answered a phone call and walked toward the glass barrier.

She then heard a loud bang akin to a car crash and found the man on the ground on the mall ground floor. It was not revealed which level he fell from.

Coughed Up Blood

Other shoppers said the mall wasn’t crowded then, but the few shoppers there were shocked when they saw the man on the ground.

He was still breathing faintly right after the fall but started coughing up blood. A woman who worked in one of the stores took out a first-aid kit and wanted to help him but was dissuaded by onlookers who told her to wait for the police and paramedics instead.

Parademics attempted to resuscitate the man when they arrived and conveyed the man to the hospital while the police cordoned off the area. He was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Business in the mall resumed after 5 pm. Videos by eyewitnesses showed a cordoned-off area with a pool of blood on the ground.
