Notice anything odd about this picture?
Probably not.
This lady is Vivian Hsu. She is a Taiwanese actress known for the movies One Last Dance (2006), Dancing without you (2010) and The Sorcerer and the White Snake (it seems like she likes dancing a lot).
According to my male colleagues, she was their imaginary girlfriend. But moving on…
Multi-talented, she is also known for songs like ‘I still believe’ and ‘beautiful day’. In 2014, she married a Singaporean businessman named Sean Lee. They now have a son together named Dalton.
Well, what fans have been gushing about is how much the ladies in the photo look alike.
The two girls in the photo are actually not her biological daughters.
They are Sean’s daughters from a previous marriage.
When Hsu posted this family photo on Mother’s day, many people commented on the uncanny likeness between her and her two stepdaughters. No one would have guessed it if they did not know their family background.
Previous criticism
As the girls look pretty old and Hsu has been married to Sean for five years, you may ask why this revelation only came about later.
Wouldn’t people have discovered the similarities earlier?
This is because Hsu did not post pictures of the girls on her Instagram before this. She came under fire from the public and was even called an evil stepmom because she only posted pictures of her biological son, Dalton.
Later, Hsu came out to clarify that the reason why she did not post pictures of the girls was that she wanted them to retain a semblance of privacy in their developmental years.
Hsu went on to share that she even asked for the girl’s permission before posting any pictures of them as a form of respect. Judging from what we see, Hsu actually has a pretty knitted relationship with her step-daughters and simply calls them her daughters.
Ah, it is because she is a considerate and understanding mother after all!

Hsu, who is already 44, still looks so youthful, and it looks like she could pass off as the older sister of the girls. I won’t be surprised if you didn’t know which lady is Hsu #justsaying
Blended families
Blended families refer to families where the parents have children from another relationship but they come together to become one family. This is becoming more and more common as divorce rates are on the rise in Singapore.
It is heartwarming to see that Hsu and her stepchildren are able to get along well. This is because studies have shown that it is better for the child’s development when the child has both parents.
And it is a sweet coincidence that they look so much alike!
Let us give this family the privacy that they hope for and not be too quick to judge.
