I was in a petrol station one day when I saw Gudetama mooncakes. I thought, Okay, that’s cute and creative.
After all, Gudetama is an egg yolk. And there are egg yolks in mooncakes #theirony
Then I went online and realized that this year, Gudetama mooncakes have become the latest trend.
Like, seriously.
Or to be more specific, this.
Listed as one of “weird and wacky mooncake flavours” in a Straits Times article, the distribution channel of this cute mooncake is wide: it’s available in the official Gudetama Cafe Singapore in Suntec City, all Esso-Cheers petrol stations and all The Soup Spoon outlets.
It’s also available in a café chain, Joe & Dough.
I know I’m late to the game this is already out since 17 August 2017, but it’s better late than never, right?
Just look at these tins of goodies in the Gudetama Café.
One box of four mooncakes is at $72.90 in The Soup Spoon, so it’s not exactly friendly to your wallet. Then again, Gudetama has never been your wallet BFF.
Before you rush over to any The Soup Spoon or the Gudetama Café to get one now, hold your horses. There’s a 1 for 1 promotion in several Cheers outlets.
If you can’t read the text, here’s what is written:
From now till 17 Sep, get 1 for 1 Gudetama Mooncakes with Visa PayWave at selected Cheers stores.
Don’t miss this irresistible deal! Offer is valid while stocks last!
Offer is available only at the following outlets:
Ang Mo Kio Hub | 218 Balestier Road | Bedok Mall | Bras Basah Complex | Changi T2 Departure | Changi T3 Arrival | Foch Road | Habourfront | Holland MRT | Hougang Central | 500 Jalan Sultan | Jurong Point Shopping Centre | Kembangan MRT | Lau Pa Sat | Peace Centre | Sembawang MRT | Tampines MRT | Tanah Merah MRT | 109 Toa Payoh Lor 1 | Woodlands MRT | Yew Tee MRT
I’m quite certain this would make even a lazy Gudetama crawl all the way to any of the outlets.
