Taiwanese singer Jay Chou sent alarm bells ringing on 7 April, when he posted a picture of his arm on an intravenous drip.
Here’s what we know so far.
Breathing Problems and Numb Arm
While Chou is known to suffer from ankylosing spondylitis, which is an inflammatory disease that causes some bones in the spine to fuse, this health scare is seemingly unrelated to that.
A short caption accompanied the photo of his arm, which translates to: “Not sure if it was a panic attack or a heart issue that caused breathing problems and numbness of the arm. Any doctors here who can give me some advice?”
The post got more than 72,000 likes and 3,500 concerned comments in an hour, with celebrity friends like Singaporean singer JJ Lin amongst the well-wishers.

Advice and Well-Wishes from Fans
His vague caption, of course, led to lots of speculation.
Amongst all the “get well soon” and “take care of your body” messages from fans, there is also a fair number of advice from fans.
Most comments urged him to go for a full-body check-up or take blood tests, as his symptoms may be caused by underlying illnesses.
If the check-up doesn’t reveal any issues, then it might be stress or a panic attack that caused this.
In true Asian-mom fashion, there were also a ton of comments telling him to drink more water and to sleep earlier… and also some comments asking why his arm is so hairy.
