When you get married, you would expect your spouse to look out for you.Â
You wouldn’t expect to be stranded in the middle of nowhere by the one you love.Â
Unfortunately, that is what happened to 49-year-old Mrs Amnuay Chaimoon a few days ago.
She and her husband have been married for 27 years, with a 26-year-old son, which makes the situation even more bizarre.Â
Here’s how the chaos unfolded.
Thai Man Stops by the Roadside to Pee and Drives off Without his Wife
Mrs Amnuay and her husband, 55-year-old Mr Boontom Chaimoon, were driving to their hometown in Maha Sarakham Province at 3 am on 25 December.
They were going to spend the New Year in their hometown.
At one point, Mr Boontom needed to pee and stopped his car by the roadside.Â
While he was peeing by the roadside, Mrs Amnuay decided that it was a good time to take a leak as well. She proceeded to relieve herself in the forest.
When she had finished her business and returned, her husband and their car had disappeared.
Stranded in the Middle of the Night
She realised that her husband had probably forgotten about her and drove off.
As it was the middle of the night, Mrs Amnuay was scared.
In addition, she had left her phone in the car.
To make matters worse, the nearest police station was a whopping 20km away in the district of Kabin Buri in Thailand.Â
Despite her fear, she trekked to the police station and finally reached her destination at 5 am.
Trouble Contacting her Husband
According to Daily News, Mrs Amnuay appeared to look worried and tired.
Without a change of clothes, she had trekked through the night in only a black long-sleeved shirt and jeans.
She was struck with another bout of misfortune when she realised that she did not know her husband’s phone number.
The police helped her to contact her phone, which she had left in the car, more than 20 times. However, there was no response.Â
The police resorted to contacting her family members instead.
Mrs Amnuay was willing to pawn her gold necklace to get some money to travel to her hometown if nobody could be contacted.

Reporters Finally Managed to Contact Mr Boontom
Imagine Mr Boontom’s shock when a reporter contacted him at 8 am and informed him that he had forgotten his wife.
By this time, he had already travelled all the way to Kohrat Province, which is 160km away.
He admitted that he had forgotten his wife and assumed she was asleep in the backseat of the car.
He turned the vehicle back to pick up Mrs Amnuay immediately.
As the reporters were concerned that Mr Boonthom would drive past the meeting point and add more fuel to the fire, they waited for him to pick Mrs Amnuay up.Â
Civil Reunion
Despite the terrifying ordeal, the couple’s reunion was civil.
Mr Boontom was deeply guilty and promised to apologise to his wife.
Though the incident left her speechless, Mrs Amnuay said that she would talk to her husband when they got to their hometown.
There were reportedly no arguments.
Thankfully, Mrs Amnuay managed to come out physically unscathed after walking through the night.
However, it is no doubt that this was a nasty Christmas surprise.
Perhaps Mr Boontom was groggy from driving in the middle of the night and forgot about his poor wife.
There have been similar incidents of forgetful husbands in other parts of the world.
Back in 2016, a woman was left behind by her husband at a service station while driving from Brazil to Argentina.
She was so furious that she reportedly kicked the car.
For the husbands out there, this is your sign to ensure that your wife is always with you before you drive off.
