Breakups are pretty painful. According to specialists, anyway.
Luckily for this writer, he never had to go through one before.
Because well, he never had a girlfriend before.
But yeah, back to the main topic; breakups can be pretty heart-shattering.
Case in example, this guy.
On September 19, at a train station in Zhejiang province, this 25 year-old man from China’s Henan province had decided to spontaneously scatter a stack of CNY$100 (S$20) and CNY$50 (S$10) notes into the air.
CCTV Footage
The incident was caught on CCTV, and a security guard was dispatched for some Sherlock Holmes action.
When the guard found the culprit, he asked him what was going on.
The young man replied that he just wanted to take a stroll and have a breather.
Well, why did he scatter so much money then, the guard probed.
After much interrogation, the young man confessed.
He had broken up two days ago and being depressed, had wanted to “let the world be filled with love”. His rationale was that the money could make others happy.
Well…
Look, bro, breakups are sad and all, but you can’t just throw away all your hard-earned money…
NEWSFLASH: THE MONEY WAS HIS UNCLE’S.

He later ended up at the local police station, and had to be retrieved by his family.
“Boy ah, why you end up there?”
“Because I’m sick of this world’s cruelty, Ma, so I wanted to show it some love.”
“By scattering money?”
“Yeah, because everyone loves money. Everyone money-faced one. You know the security guard? He only acting worried about me one. He on the side picking up money and putting it into his pocket.”
Alright that didn’t happen.
All CNY$3,950 (S$809) of the cash was eventually returned to him by the police. I guess the uncle would have his dough back, at least.
Okay, I get it. Breakups are painful.
They can even be traumatizing. How do I know? Dramas.
Anyway, I suppose we should be glad that this guy didn’t do something completely outrageous. There are a crap ton of people who do the stupidest stuff after breakups: drugs, suicide and even worse, stealing that drama CD from your friend who hadn’t watched it.
But if you find yourself helpless and clueless on what to do after a breakup, don’t scatter your poor uncle’s man like this guy. Sure he had the right intention in mind (the world does need more love), but he didn’t even use his own money. What a cheapskate.
There are more positive ways to handle it, like counselling, finding a new hobby or pinning a picture of your ex to the wall and throwing knives at it.
And don’t worry la; lady Fate might be fickle af, but she does become proper once in a while. It’s only in due time before you find your Prince Charming/Charmingy.
So in the meantime, just kick back, relax, and enjoy your Netflix.
