Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about the rising tensions between Ukraine and Russia.
Which is why the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has advised all Singaporeans in Ukraine to leave as soon as possible if they are able to.
Basically, MFA just doesn’t want you to get stuck in Circuit Breaker 2.0, Ukraine Edition lah.
Singaporeans Should Leave Ukraine ASAP Before Conflict Breaks Out
In a statement released yesterday (13 February), MFA acknowledged the situation in which Ukraine is in now, and urged those who are currently in Ukraine to leave.
“In view of the current situation, Singaporeans in Ukraine are advised to leave the country as soon as possible via commercial means while it is still possible to do so,” the ministry advised.
Other Western countries such as the US have also put out the same notice, hoping to get their own citizens to exit Ukraine while they still can.
The reason why so many countries are trying to get their people out of Ukraine is due to a possible invasion by Russia, though the latter denies it.
As of recent, there are over 100,000 Russian troops stationed near Ukraine, and the US speculates that Russia may invade Ukraine anytime now.
If this isn’t a good enough reason to leave, I don’t know what is.
Additionally, there is “no guarantee” that MFA can help Singaporeans to leave the country should conflict occur. This is due to the fact that Singapore does not have a diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
So don’t say we never warn you ah. Later you kena trap there and cannot come back…
