Always heard your mum say “If you don’t study hard enough, you’re gonna be a bus captain for the rest of your life”?

Well, it’s starting to sound like a sweet notion now, isn’t it?

New S’pore Bus Drivers Can Get $3,500 Salary & 21 Days Annual Leave Due To Lack Of Manpower

According to Lianhe Zaobao on Wednesday (16 Oct), transport companies SBS Transit, SMRT and Go-Ahead are now offering new bus drivers up to $3,500 monthly salary & up to 21 days of annual leave, due to a lack of manpower in the industry.

And that’s not all either, as new bus captains are slated to enjoy free bus & MRT rides, alongside sweet medical benefits.

Those under SBS and SMRT will also receive a cool $3,000 sign-on bonus.

And lest you’re wondering, training will be provided to accepted applicants so they can understand the job better.

Now is that the full package or what?

Hiring Requirements

Before you fling your resignation letter in your boss’ face, however, do take note of a few things.

Firstly, according to the advertisements made by the bus companies, you’ll need a Singapore class 3 driver’s license and at least 1 year of driving experience for you to be eligible for this job.

Secondly, SMRT will only be accepting Singaporeans.

SBS and Go-Ahead, however, have yet to specify any preference for nationalities. But just to be on the safe side, give them a call beforehand if you’re not a local. After all…

You won’t want to be turned out at the doorstep for inexplicable, unstated racist reasons, right?

And So… What’re You Waiting For?

If you’ve been driving Grab and wish to pursue a different route in ride-hailing services, or have just been fired from your daytime job because your boss doesn’t like you, well, there’s no better opportunity right now.

So go on ahead…

And realise your dream of being a captain.
