When Samurai Burger returned back to McDonald’s last month, we were warned about a possible rival that would take on the well-loved Samurai Burger.
During the Samurai Burger promo video, there was a possible clue about this Ninja Burger.
My colleague even did a tell-all article on it.
On the last few days of October, McDonald’s teased us with this:
From the shadows, a new hero will rise on 2 November 2017.

And yesterday, the elusive Ninja Burger made its debut.
The Ninja Chicken Burger
It does look pretty and very instagrammable.
It features a crispy chicken patty (similar to their popular McSpicy) that is glazed with sweet Nanban sauce, slices of cucumber and coleslaw mixed with Japanese tartar sauce.
All of the atas ingredients is sandwiched between a charcoal bun—making it even more atas and hipster.
FYI: Nanban is a vinegar of sorts.
Since It is #TGIFF (Thank God It’s Fast-food Friday), we decided to do a little taste test on this bad boy.
Taste Test
We got the set meal and we upsized it since we got a hold of our boss’ credit card.
It came with the usual drink and fries and the seaweed seasoning!
Lo and behold, the Ninja Chicken Burger.
It does look subpar compared to what was advertised.
This is why I have trust issues.
But hey, don’t judge a book by its cover.
I took a bite…
I took a second bite…
I had very mixed feelings about it.
It reminds me of the pork belly sandwiches that I used to gorge on during my holiday in Berlin.
The chicken wasn’t as crispy as I thought it would be but I definitely loved the umami flavour from the coleslaw.
It added a layer of complexity to the burger.
My colleague had a different opinion; he liked it a lot.
To each his own, I guess,
Would I order it again
I think I would opt for their Buttermilk Crispy Chicken.
I don’t think the Ninja Chicken Burger would be able to win our beloved Samurai Burger.
Sorry, I believe the winner is the Samurai Burger.
BRB GUYS, I am going to order their Samurai Burger cause god knows how long it will be on the menu!
And if you have not tried it, you should do it now! My colleague even did a review on it!
