Whenever I rewatch the iconic 2015 biographical comedy-drama film The Big Short, I was always confused by this scene where one of the characters goes:

I hear the food has gotten really good in Vegas, they have a Nobu now.

My brain: Simi Nobu sia.

But not anymore—Nobu announced that their very own restaurant will be opening in Singapore at the Four Seasons Hotel on 1 June 2022.

Background on Nobu

The Japanese restaurant was first founded by chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro, and producer Meir Teper.

Chef Nobu is a Japanese celebrity chef and restaurateur known for his fusion cuisine that combines traditional Japanese cuisine with Peruvian ingredients.

Chef Nobu was operating a restaurant in Los Angeles, California when he came to know Robert De Niro who encouraged him to open one in New York.

This was how the first Nobu outlet came about in Tribeca, New York.

Nobu has since expanded with about 50 outlets globally. For the outlet in Singapore, the restaurant will be set in a “sculpted open-air Japanese garden and bar” against the backdrop of the city skyline.

Highlights of Nobu in Singapore

The outlet in Singapore will also be the first to feature a Chef’s table as part of a private dining space in the restaurant, according to Peter Draminsky, Regional Vice President and General Manger of Four Seasons Hotel Singapore.
