A few days back, my colleague wrote about a transparent milk tea that originates from the Land of the Rising Sun.
Only the Japanese could come up with something that is so ingenious.
Sooner or later, the Americans will probably release something similar aka gentrification.
Anyways, for those who have not read that article, let me catch you up to speed.
This is how it looks like.
Looks like mineral water, am I right?
It is called the Suntory “Premium Milk Tea”.
Imagine transferring the drink to your own water bottle and bringing it to the cinemas…
Anyways, how did they manage to do it?
(Duh, it’s because they are Japanese.)
Okay okay, there is a scientific method to it.
They manage to get the milk flavour by extracting the lactose and milk minerals which are transparent.
So the non-transparent parts (milk fat and milk protein) are removed—good bye!
But that doesn’t mean it is advisable for those who are lactose intolerant to consume it.
Now, for the tea component.
Water is boiled beneath the teal leaves; the water vapour then passes through the loose black tea leaves, carrying the tea’s heavy aroma.
The water vapour then cools down aka condenses and voila, you get a liquid residue that has the tea essence.
Here is a video for those who lack imagination.
Well, in the previous article, my colleague mentioned that Singapore does not offer the transparent milk tea.
Well, it turned out that it wasn’t entirely true after all.
Let me be the bearer of good news.
According to Mothership, the “Premium Milk Tea” is available at selected FairPrie Finest outlets, including Bishan, Marine Parade and Changi Airport Terminal 3.
It retails at $2.60!
One of our very loyal readers also mentioned that it is available at all Choco Express outlets.
Okay, bye guys! I am going to grab a dozen of it!
Now, where’s the nearest Choco Express outlet from Bukit Batok?
