With the rain being a more-than-common presence in Singapore as of late, I’m sure travelling has sometimes gotten a little more troublesome.
But for most of us, the presence of sheltered walkways in most areas has been a blessing.
However, it seems like even having sheltered walkways along the roads doesn’t necessarily mean that one won’t end up getting drenched or needing an umbrella, especially from this particular TikTok video that was posted on Wednesday (24 August).
Car Blocked Pedestrian Path With Shelter at Queenstown
In the TikTok video posted by user @manos1966, a white-coloured Toyota Noah was seen blocking the pedestrian path at Stirling Road, which is at Queenstown.
The caption also read, “illegal parking” and “blocking pedestrians”.
The path that was blocked, which had a shelter above it, seemed to be the only sheltered walkway seen in the vicinity.
It was also raining, which meant that pedestrians who wanted to cross the path would have no choice but to walk around the large stationary vehicle, resulting in them getting drenched if they did not have an umbrella with them.
Although there was a woman who decided to brave the rain and walk around the car at the start of the now-viral video, another woman captured in a later part of the video chose to turn back instead to avoid walking in the rain.
Behind the camera, a man’s voice also said, “There’s a car parked here illegally, blocking the pedestrians’ way and it’s raining heavily.”
Many Pedestrians Waiting to Cross the Path
The same man behind the camera also conversed with the woman in Mandarin, criticising how the driver had gotten out of his car after leaving it at a spot that would inconvenience many.
He also filmed his surroundings, showing many other people waiting for the car owner to return and move his car so that they could cross the pathway.
“See all the pedestrians are waiting to cross because of this car parked right here under the shelter, blocking all of us. Amazing,” he said.
Someone else in the video also commented that the pedestrians would have been able to cross the road if the vehicle had been reversed by even just a little.
Driver Finally Arrived
Near the end of the three-minute-long clip, the camera panned to the driver, who had finally arrived back at his car.
The man filming the video also told the woman that he had spoken to earlier to scold the driver and mentioned that he would film it down.
The driver, who was a balding man wearing spectacles and in a grey t-shirt, smiled awkwardly and held his hand up apologetically to those in the area before he got back into his car hurriedly.
Those in the area were berating him for inconveniencing the rest, which prompted the driver to drive off quickly.
When he drove off, the car plate number of the vehicle was captured at the end of the video as well.

Netizens’ Reactions
In the comments section, many TikTok commenters criticised the driver as well and called him out for his irresponsible behaviour.
Another user added that the “easiest” way to solve the issue would be to call the police, who will apparently inform the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to tow the vehicle away.
Others jokingly said that the pedestrians should have climbed over the car to continue their journey, while someone even said that they should have deflated the car’s tyres.
