Just last Saturday (Feb 10), a 39-year-old man was arrested for allegedly molesting a woman.
The duo was on bus service 190 operated by Tower Transit Singapore.
The bus was travelling along Burgundy Rise in Bukit Batok when the incident happened, according to The Straits Times.
Totally not freaking out because that’s the bus stop opposite our office.
Just some context: during peak hours, the bus stop there can be so crowded, the ground might just collapse any time.
During non-peak hours, according to some of my colleagues who came back from the weekends (those workaholics), it’s so empty, it’s like my colleagues’ love lives, too.
The 28-year-old victim approached the bus driver for assistance and he quickly closed all doors so that the man can’t escape.
There was a eye-witness of the whole incident and here’s what he provided on his Facebook:
It’s the first time I’ve seen a molest incident happening right infront of me on the bus. I was aboard SMB3502J on Service 106. This is the aftermath of what had happened. The guy at the background near the front doors apparently molested her on the upper deck.
Initially he sat near me at the upper deck second last row and suddenly he sat right behind her on the front row seats. I assumed that he was alighting so I didn’t care much. But suddenly that lady screamed “YOU AGAIN!!” and she said she saw him on Service 190 the other time and she remembered him touching her thigh.
She immediately got down to the lower deck and asked the bus captain for help and managed to not let him out of the bus. The BC called the police and let us out to change to another bus. Definitely the CCTV footage of SMB3502J (the bus I was on) could see every movement of him. Kudos to the bus captain for being so responsible in this kind of situation, and kudos to her for being alert
This is taken after the molest incident.

The bus driver closed the doors of the bus and kept the man inside the bus while waiting for the police to arrive.
The police arrived shortly after.
The man was arrested on the spot.
If convicted he could be jailed for up to two years, fined, caned or receive any combined punishment.
Like what the Facebook user said, I would like to applaud the bus driver for his quick-thinking.
Be it male or female, we should always be mindful of those around us and not let these kind of people get away easily!
And please, don’t make Bukit Batok the next Yishun. We can’t afford to shift office leh.
