It hasn’t been a good year for Rui En so far.
After her infamous sentence “Do you know who I am?” that occurred in April this year, she was criticized online for her allegedly arrogant statement, which we might or might not have taken out of context. On July, she was fined $700 for driving without due care and attention.
By then, everyone knows what car she drives, so when a black BMW was caught driving dangerously by an in-car camera, you can expect yet another social media backlash.
According to a footage by Facebook user James Lee, a black BMW with the car plate of SKT222R was on a lane that only allows a right turn. However, the BMW decides to go straight instead, speeding up so as to overtake James Lee’s car that is occupying the lane.
For non-drivers, here’s why it’s dangerous: there’s technically no road left for the BMW. If no one had given away, the BMW would crash right into the divider.
And here’s the killer: the lane James Lee was on can turn right or go straight. If James Lee had turned right, he would have crashed right into the BMW, which is on his blind spot.
Now, here’s the question: is it really Rui En’s car, or is she driving?
Well, according to Stomp, Rui En has issued this statement through her agent: “When she found out that she was on the wrong lane, she turned on her signal beam before cutting into the second lane, after making sure that the incoming car was slowing down….She also said that she didn’t mean to cause a scene or cause problems to anyone.”
Just for the record, when I’m on the turning lane and then realize that I should be going straight, I’ll always make it an effort to turn and make a U-turn later. Because NS taught me this: Mission First, Safety Always.
But then again, I’m not driving a Beemer #justsaying
