There are some things we think we’ll never see in life. This includes:
- PM Lee doing a TikTok dance
- A giraffe creating a COVID-19 cure
- An air travel bubble with Hong Kong
At the top of this list is:
4. Cristiano Ronaldo dancing along to baby shark
While the first three have not happened and will likely never happen, Shopee has somehow managed to make one of the world’s biggest football stars dance like a giddy two-year-old to a song we all know too well.
The popular online shopping platform has also managed to get Phua Chu Kang and BlackPink to advertise for them, and customers must have thought they could do no better.
Or can they?
Shopee’s Latest Dancing Ambassador is Jackie Chan
Shopee has unveiled international movie star and world-renowned ass-kicker Jackie Chan as its latest dancing ambassador.
The 67-year-old has joined Shopee just in time to kick off the company’s 9.9 Super Shopping Day in a commercial that, of course, had to incorporate Chan’s kung-fu skills.
The surprising thing is that he danced as well. A lot.
Unlike most customers who shop, people like Ronaldo and Jackie Chan seem to have this urgent impulse to dance immediately after opening the Shoppe app. Scientists are still trying to ascertain the cause of this.
Meanwhile, the actor said he’s excited by his new partnership with Shopee.
“I enjoy putting a smile on people’s faces. It’s exciting to partner with Shopee to celebrate the action-packed year-end festival and bring more joy to my fans and Shopee users,” he said.
“I had a lot of fun working with Shopee and I think people of all ages will enjoy the activities and content that we have prepared together. I hope everyone can join us to make the year-end shopping season a memorable one.”
If you want to see more of Jackie Chan, you can go to Shopee Live on 9 Sep at 9pm for an exclusive interview with Jackie Chan to hear what he has to say about his first Shopee commercial.
Users also stand to win exclusive prizes and vouchers through Jackie Chan trivia and games.
Fans can also win limited-edition posters signed personally by Jackie Chan. All you have to do is take part in special contests and giveaways that will soon be announced on Shopee’s official social media channels.
Lazada Has Snagged Hyun Bin
Meanwhile, Shopee’s biggest competitor Lazada has managed to snag South Korean actor Hyun Bin, famous for his role in Crash Landing on You.
Ladaza evidently went in a slightly different direction, however, with their video; No singing. No dancing. 100% black suits.
Hyun Bin is seen in the ad with a snazzy suit, promoting LazMall’s 9.9 biggest brands sale.
“Shooting the short film for the campaign was incredibly fun, especially when we got creative in demonstrating the efficiency, reliability, and variety of products that LazMall offers to shoppers through a secret agent mission storyline,” Hyun Bin said in an interview.
“I’m very happy to be joining the Lazada family and connecting with fans in Southeast Asia as LazMall’s first regional brand ambassador.”
