Police Investigations into the Unnatural Deaths are Ongoing

According to the residents interviewed by The Straits Times, the playground had a large canal and forested area behind it. It is typically a quiet area that is frequented by joggers in the evening.

Around 6:45pm that Friday evening, residents nearby saw police cars and Civil Defence Force vehicles lining the street.

One resident, who preferred to keep her anonymity, stated that she saw the police officers loading the dead bodies into a vehicle around midnight.

After the bodies were removed from the crime scene, she also saw a yellow car that was parked along the road being towed away.

In terms of past weather conditions, the residents were certain that it did not rain last night.

Investigations are still ongoing today (22 Jan). Officers from the Gurkha Contingent could be seen patrolling inside the canal, while the police officers searched through the forested area.

There were also police officers in plain clothes going around the nearby estate to speak to the residents to find out if anything strange had transpired before the discovery of the deceased boys.

Official Statement from the MP Sim Ann

Shortly after the case occurred, Holland-Bukit Timah MP Sim Ann acknowledged that a “grave tragedy” had occurred, and that it was “unthinkable especially to anyone who is a parent”.

She confirms in her Facebook post that the police are investigating the case and advises her residents to wait for official information from the police, and she asks for the kind cooperation of the public in aiding the investigation if at all possible.

Furthermore, Ms Ann reminds the public to refrain from making any speculations regarding the case.

Thus far, information concerning the case details remain scarce and are under close wraps.

However, it is undeniable that the abrupt and bizarre passing of two children in what was meant to be a quiet evening is saddening.

We offer our condolences to the family of the children who have lost their lives in such a grievous manner.
