Well, you’ll be shocked for this car accident did not take place on a road. It took place in a community centre.
2 People Injured After Car Crashed into Ulu Pandan CC Into the Main Lobby
Yesterday (22 Oct), patrons and passersby of Ulu Pandan Community Club (CC) spotted a car crashing through the glass of the building.
That particular car allegedly crashed through the main glass door, under the “peace” poster hung in the middle of the lobby and zoomed straight down to the back of the main lobby where it was stuck.
In a video of the scene, the glass doors and various debris could be seen scattered across the floor of the lobby.
An employee of the building who saw the aftermath said it looked like the car not only went through the glass but also hit the chairs and tables on the way in.
Passenger and Driver Were Taken to the Hospital
A 70-year-old male driver and a 66-year-old female passenger were taken to National University Hospital. They were both conscious.
Police investigations for this accident are still ongoing.
Not the First Incident
Apparently, this was not the first time a vehicle crashed into a building in Singapore. In April 2021, an auxiliary police officer crashed his stolen van into a pillar while drunk.
The incident happened along Teck Whye Crescent when he was supposed to be on a five-day sick leave. As you know, if you are on sick leave, you are supposed to isolate yourself.
So naturally, he didn’t. He met up with two of his friends at a multi-storey carpark to drink. They hung out for six hours, from 1am to 7am, before the drunk man decided to leave.
On his way back, he noticed the backdoor of the truck was unlocked with the spare keys left in the van, so he followed his instincts and hopped right in for a joy ride.
As he still had his beer goggles on, he ignored the large pillar in front of him and crashed right into it.
The police and ambulance arrived promptly and he was caught. He was sentenced to 10 weeks in jail and had a fine of S$10,000. His license was also suspended for two years.
