Over the last few weeks, Singaporeans have been keeping a tab on the announcements of VTL (Vaccinated Travel Lane) destinations.
We’d gasp or cheer whenever an announcement is made, akin to what happened during weekend evenings when we look at the 4D results.
Today is a day when more cheers are heard, for the country that some of us go at least once a year is finally in the VTL scheme: Thailand.
S’pore Extends VTL to 6 More Countries Including S’poreans’ Favourite Spot, Thailand
This afternoon, Transport Minister S Iswaran said that we would be expanding our VTL to six more countries: Cambodia, Fiji, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey.
All the countries except Thailand will start from 16 December.
The VTL with Thailand will start two days earlier, at 14 December.
With this, the daily quota for the travel lane scheme will increase from 10,000 to 15,000 travellers.
However, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) added that travellers “are advised to check the entry requirements imposed by the respective VTL countries, which may vary across countries and may change as the Covid-19 situation evolves.”

Since 1 November, Thailand has opened its borders to vaccinated residents from 63 countries, Singapore included, without a need for quarantine. However, should we come back from Thailand, we’d still need to quarantine, so this upcoming VTL enables quarantine-free travel in both countries.
With this announcement, Singapore would have VTL scheme with 27 countries, with the upcoming ones to start from 29 November 2021 with Finland, India, Indonesia, Malaysia (both air and land) and Sweden.
