Yesterday (18 December 2021), Wang Leehom’s ex-wife, Li Jialei, exposed Wang’s infidelity and his adventures with multiple women (and a man, if you realised that she used a general pronoun instead of a female pronoun for one person) in a nine-page essay on her Instagram and Weibo. That caused Wang to lose various jobs and even followers.
To counter that, Wang’s father, Wang Ta-Chung, wrote a handwritten letter and contacted the Taiwanese media, Apple Daily, to set his son free of these accusations.
Let’s just say that it got worse.
Wang Leehom’s Father’s Letter
Wang’s father, a retired paediatrician, decided to write a two-page letter and post it on Weibo after Li’s bombshell exposé. In the letter, his father talked about how he regreted the couple marriage.
So, what was written?
Li Jialei’s Pregnancy
It turned out that in 2013, Li was pregnant with Wang’s first child. They were not married then. According to Wang’s father, Li initially assured Wang to not worry and she will raise the child on her own.
However, she soon changed her mind and threatened Wang that if they did not get married, she would expose him and ruin his career.
Despite the threats, Wang’s father approved of the marriage although everyone else did not. Wang’s father mentioned that he did that because he wanted to protect Wang’s career and the unborn child.
He thought that she would be a better person but it turned out to be the worst decision he has ever made.
Seven Years of Painful Marriage
After the marriage, Wang’s father alleged Wang lived through seven years of pain with the last two years of “living hell”. The marriage was riddled with problems despite Wang’s effort to patch things up with Li.
In the last two years of their marriage, Wang and Li were not living together.
Wang’s father said Wang tried to be the best father he can by interacting with his children via the internet when he was overseas or spending a few hours with them daily.
Wang’s parents also would visit the children daily to give them a sense of normalcy.
Wang’s father mentioned that it was with good fortune, the kids were mentally and physically healthy despite the dysfunctional family.
Calculated Move
Wang’s father moved on to touch on Li’s nine-page essay as a calculated move rather than a spur-of-the-moment “rant”. He asked the public “to be objective”.
He said that both Li and Wang had signed the divorce papers and this divorce have been ongoing for over two years. However, Li requested “hundreds of millions”, a house, a car, a living allowance, two nannies, a helper and a driver. The requests have been agreed to and delivered.
In addition, Wang’s father said Wang has not been unfaithful and his children should not be left with the impression that he is a scum.
Eh?
Wang Leehom’s Ex-Wife Responded
After reading the letter, Li responded with a new six-page essay on her Weibo and Instagram.
The new post consists of her side of the story and a screenshot of a message.
In her essay, Li accused Wang of hiding behind his 80-year-old father and orchestrating the whole thing instead of facing reality. In Li’s theory, an 80-year-old man would not know how to contact the media on his own.
Additionally, Li felt sad that Wang’s father had to lie to defend his 45-year-old son.
Li called this another attempt of protecting himself by using his friends and family as his “shield”.
Despite the nine pages’ worth of words in her first post, Li said she was “reserved” in her sharing for she did think about their children when she posted that.
However, that crumpled when she received this text yesterday:
Wang Leehom Tried to Bribe Ex-Wife to Recant Statement
The last carousel photo on her Instagram shows a screenshot of Wang’s message saying he will give her one of his properties, a condominium, if she tells the media by “today” that her accusations were groundless.
Wang told Li to say that she had been too upset, and not feeling well so she was not thinking clearly when she crafted the well-worded nine-page exposé.
He also asked her to say “Leehom is not guilty of those things” and apologise for her actions.
Considered His Bribe
In spite of all the things that happened and how this bribe goes against her morals of not being able to be bought with money, Li did consider accepting his bribe.
She still wanted to sacrifice her own reputation to save his career. She suddenly realised that he still believes that his reputation and future is more important than hers.

Addressing The Letter
Unsure of what clicked in her mind, it seems that she did not accept the bribe and decided to address the letter written by Wang’s father instead.
She addressed the seven points about the letter in her Instagram post:

Abortion
As mentioned in the exposé, Wang wanted to have kids as soon as possible so they did not use any form of contraception. “At his age, he should know that that leads to pregnancy.”
When she first got pregnant, Wang was ecstatic but after discussing with his parents, he told her to:
- Get an abortion
- Have the baby but not get married
Li rejected his suggestions. Instead, she used an Uno reverse card and gave him two options:
- Get married and start a family with her in Taiwan
- She “go into hiding” with the baby and she will take care of the child on her own
In the end, the pair decided to get married.
Eh, different accounts leh. Dissociation ah?
‘Years of Suffering’
In one of her points, Li touched on how the father had said that Wang suffered in the marriage for years. She retorted with, saying “if that’s the case, we would not have two more children”.
She also mentioned how she will not be able to put up the “lovey-dovey” act in front of their friends. “He might be an actor, but I’m not.”
Wang Only Spend A Few Minutes With The Children
Li also added Wang did not spend “a few hours daily with the children.” Instead, Wang would only spend “five to ten minutes” before bedtime to speak to the children.
He was also not around during the children’s birthdays and special occasions like Christmas. This year is the third year that he wouldn’t be around during Christmas.
Do remember that since their kids are seven, five and three, Wang’s absence is quite impressionable on them.
Millions of Dollars
As for the “millions of dollars” Wang claimed she had received through the divorce, Li said that was not true. She only asked for her children’s standard of living to be maintained.
Li touched on how she did not claim a single cent of alimony from the divorce.
Wang Leehom is “Not a Cheater”
As for that statement, Li retorted, “He wouldn’t tell you when he cheats just like he wouldn’t tell you when he spends time with prostitutes, right?”
Oh, wells.
“Not a Scum”
Li agreed that Wang is not a scum and their children should not have that impression since she does make an effort to put in a good word for him in front of their kids, even when he was absent for family events.
The Exposé was Not a Calculated Move
In Wang’s father letter, he said Li’s nine-page exposé was a “calculated move” that she had been thinking about for two years. However, Li said that was not the case.
Li said she crafted the letter the day before while being accompanied by two of her best friends. She only decided to release the exposé because Wang broke his promise of protecting her during the divorce and rejected her when she asked him to help clear her name.
This exposé was only released so that she can protect herself and clear her own name.
Ultimatum for Wang Leehom and His Father
At the end of the post, Li asked Wang to make a public apology before 3pm, 19 December 2021. If not she will be taking legal action against Wang and his father to protect herself from defamation.
As you probably know by now, Wang hasn’t made any public apology after the deadline.
