Car T-Boned Bus in Woodlands This Morning, Leading to 2 Deaths & 8 Injuries

On Thursday (1 Sept), at around 6:10am, a fatal accident occurred at the junction of Woodlands Avenue 4 and Woodlands Avenue 9.

The 32-year-old man driving the car was killed on impact, while nine other people on the bus were injured.

According to news reports, it is understood that the yellow Honda Civic was going straight, and it collided with a right-turning bus in the middle of the road junction.

The front of the car smashed into the middle body of the bus, which completely destroyed the front of the car.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead on the spot.

Based on the photos circulating on the internet, the traffic police were at the scene redirecting the traffic. Two blue police tents were also set up.

In response to media enquiries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that local authorities were alerted to the accident at about 6:10am, at the aforementioned location in Woodlands.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics.

The 37-year-old bus driver, and eight other passengers were conveyed to Khoo Puat Hospital for medical treatment. Two were seriously injured then.

One of the passengers, a 53-year-old woman, died in the hospital.

In response to Channel News Asia‘s inquiries, Tower Transit said that they were searching for the woman’s next-of-kin to render assistance to her family.

Tower Transit is also in the process of contacting the bus driver and the other passengers to help them with their medical claims.

Additionally, the bus driver’s condition has stabilised and he will be relieved of all his duties while police investigations are underway.

The public transport operator would like to thank the members of the public who aided the bus driver and the passengers, while extending its condolences to the bereaved families.
