Routinely, one would perceive a lack of a formal wedding ceremony after 2 kids and 16 years of marriage to be near implausible in these modern times.
After all, registration for marriage may suffice on the ‘papers’ front, but to most, a wedding ceremony represents a heartfelt celebration of the union and also serves as a platform where family and friends can share in the joy.
Truly, it’s something of a given, a rite of passage for those going through the phase of marriage, so to speak.
And perhaps that’s why the case of Ex-Fahrenheit member Wu Chun and his wife, Lin Liying, is surprising on so many fronts;
They have been married for close to sixteen years (with two children in that time period), and yet it was only recently that they held their wedding ceremony.
Talk about a real shocker.
Though if there was any derivation from the event…
It would be that the ceremony was so grandiose and magical in nature, that sixteen years’ of wait might have been well worth it after all.
Ex-Fahrenheit Member Finally Held Wedding Ceremony After 2 Kids & 16 Years of Marriage
Conducted in conjunction with the Chinese reality show “21 Days Before Marriage”, the entire ceremony was filmed and subsequently broadcast on TV, with the episode airing on 9 June 2020.
The wedding featured a fairy tale theme, with a castle-like background and an elegant white floral venue.
The bride also appeared in a white wedding dress, adorned with hand-drawn drawings of the couple’s memories together.
Which had Wu feeling a tad bit emotional.
“This DIY dress…took so much effort [from Lin]” he said, before tearing.

Lin eventually untied the skirt full of drawings and draped it around his shoulders.
Their two children, nine-year-old Xinyi and six-year-old Max were also present at the ceremony.
And if I may mention… the family portraits here look absolutely heartwarming.
Though of course, no wedding ceremony’s complete without a handful of ‘cheeky’ pictures.
And as it turns out, not even Wu is exempt from this notion.
In his Weibo post, Wu shared his feelings about the ceremony.
He wrote in his post:
“Today, I’m happy to be able to share with everyone our wedding ceremony. It’s not easy to find someone who will cherish their other half…and we went through a lot of ups and downs together. This process of us growing together is one I enjoy and cherish the most and so, I’ve made a museum of memories in this ceremony.
“Love and family are very important to me, she gave me motivation to live my life, and to chase after our dreams! With this happiness, my life is one of positivity and contentment. One’s mentality can affect their fate…I’m grateful to have found someone to stay by my side and help me look forward to what the future brings.”
He also expressed his gratitude towards the production crew for making the ceremony possible, and for fulfilling his wish of having a wedding… at long last.
Controversy
Lest you’re unaware, the couple did not host a wedding ceremony in the past because they had kept their relationship (and marriage) under wraps.
Previously, Wu was accused of lying about his marriage, as he reportedly told media that he tied the knot in 2009 instead of 2004.
Well, being a celebrity certainly has its pros and cons.
In May this year, the couple had their wedding shoot.
And having had their wedding ceremony at long last, it’s safe to say that the couple will no longer have to traipse carefully in the shadows;
They can now bask in the limelight… together.
