On 30 Jan 2020, Malaysia reported 8 confirmed cases of the Wuhan virus within the country.
All of them are Chinese nationals.
But on 4 Feb 2020, the situation changed.
Because not only has the number increased, one of them involved a Malaysian.
M’sia Reports First Citizen Case of Wuhan Virus
On 4 Feb 2020, the Malaysian authorities confirmed the country’s first confirmed case involving a citizen.
The Malaysian Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said the 41-year-old man is under treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
The patient is in stable condition.
Precautions Taken
The man’s relatives will all be placed under “home surveillance” for 14 days.
It was estimated that the incubation period for the novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) is between two to fourteen days.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Malaysia at the moment is 10, with another 20 suspected cases.
The suspected cases are awaiting test results.
