Young Mother Jumped To Her Death At Genting After Reportedly Losing Almost $70K

After reading the article headline, you probably thought that the young mother’s tragic suicide has nothing to do with mental health and is simply due to a gambling problem.

But nobody ever commits suicide out of the blue.

Burmese Woman Lost RM200,000 Due To Gambling

The 27-year-old Burmese woman was reported to be having severe marriage problems and financial difficulties.

That was most likely why she chose to turn to Genting, a place in Malaysia known for its casino.

While she was hoping for perhaps a miracle to save her from her life’s troubles, it, unfortunately, did not work out.

She ended up losing about RM200,000 (almost ~S$70,000) from gambling.

She messaged her friends about it, even including a laughing emoji to make it seem as if she was okay with it.

Honestly, that might have been a cry for help.

She added that she only had RM1,000 left and would be returning to Myanmar with her daughter once her passport was “ready”.

In other messages, she also said that “marrying [her husband] was one of [her] biggest disappointments in life.”

“I can see clearly now. I have let him go,” she added.

“Take care of her for me”

In another chain of messages, she confided in her friend.

First message: “What is the purpose of living? I have no idea why I’m living. I’m so tired. I’ll be taking these pills to sleep. If I wake up I’ll be catching the 5 o’clock car to find my daughter. If I don’t wake up, it’ll be up to you to take care of her.”

Second message: “Also, if I don’t wake up,  I’ve set my bank account to periodically transfer money to my mother. Because she has no money to live on without me. But don’t tell her what happened to me. I’m afraid she won’t be able to take it.”

In the third message, she attached a photo of a handful of sleeping pills, insinuating her intention to commit suicide by overdosing.

Fourth message: “Remember, please take care of my daughter for me.”

She eventually changed her mind about the pills and chose to go to the 19th floor where she jumped to her death.

Problem Gambling

In this tragedy, nobody can truly be blamed.

We don’t know her circumstances and what she had gone through.

However, to whoever this may concern, gambling is never a way out.
