Once, when I was in ICT, there was an Army-wide safety timeout. We were all brought back to our bunks, and to be perfectly honestly, all we did was sleep. And of course, eat. And most importantly, continue the super lively chat we had in the jungle, because how can my buddy buy his BTO at that price?! After all, isn’t ICT a respite from work? But not these NSmen. Now, before you go apeshit, do remember: this is an image from a person. We cannot verify its authenticity, but we can verify something else. Read on and you’ll understand. Most of them are already in their mid 30s and are successful in their careers. You can see how your mindset in NS actually affect your professional and personal lives. Having said that, these reservist soldiers, whom I’ve got to admit do look like reservist soldiers (come on: we all know reservist soldiers tend to weight more than NSFs) have spent their time volunteering, seemingly to create a garden, when training has stopped. Given that there are so many chains of command for this to be authorized, I’m presuming it’s someone from the top (the CO, maybe?) making this decision, and the soldiers agree to do so. Image Unverified, But One Thing Verified Now, an image can’t tell a story. For all you know, it could be a volunteer event from Mars. But the part about “You can see how your mindset in NS actually affect your professional and personal lives” is true. It’s common for you to hear “walao, let him go NS and he’ll change,” and it’s not just a hearsay: everyone would have seen a change in a person’s mindset after they’ve been through NS. NS doesn’t just change a person physically, but mentally as well: I’ve known of many people (me included, but a wise man said we cannot judge ourselves) who became much more independent, responsible and understanding after going through the so-called two-year time-waster. And it’s not through theory lessons that Singaporean sons learn the ropes of life: it’s the journey. Anyone who’s been pampered throughout would come to understand that you’re on your own in NS. Anyone who’s self-limiting beliefs would come to understand that our beliefs are wrong. Anyone who’s low confidence would come to understand the importance of confidence and the need to be confident. ICT Experience While I, or anyone in Goody Feed, can’t vouch that the image posted by Ashton Law are indeed reservist soldiers, I can say that if my company (NS company, not Baddy Feed) is asked to volunteer, we’ll gladly do so on one condition: my NS friends are with me. The reason is simple: we’ve always gone into ICT with the mentality to do some tough physical work, but the only reason why we love it so much is the brotherhood with friends we’ve not seen for a year. From chiong sua to planting flowers? Can do, as long as my buddy is with me. After all, it's the only place whereby politics doesn't exist - only true friendship lives in the camps. So yes, we can verify that this can happen. Just don’t put Section 1 people in Section 3 can liao. I need to ask my buddy about his BTO flat. Army-wide Safety Timeout Lest you're unaware and wonder why you haven't been able to book your last-minute IPPT / RT / IPT, it's because the Army has declared an Army-wide safety timeout since 24 January 2019, whereby all field training and live-firing activities would be stopped until further notice. This includes IPPT for NSmen; one of us tried booking a slot this week but couldn't do so. The earliest date is on February instead, and given that it'll be CNY then, and that some NSmen like to book their slots in the very last minute, I guess many of them are going to pay a visit to CMPB to answer a charge #justsaying
