With the continuous rise in K-Pop groups over the past few years, there's no surprise that companies have been churning out new groups every now and then. However, with the new influx of new faces in the industry, there have also been K-Pop idols who have decided to leave the highly-coveted job after their debut, and that's the case here. NMIXX, a girl group under JYP Entertainment, recently announced that one of the group's members, Jinni, has left the group. The Announcement Just yesterday (9 December), JYP announced through a statement that Jinni, a member of NMIXX, has left the group. The announcement stated that the 18-year-old, whose real name is Choi Yunjin, "will be leaving the group due to personal circumstances". "Her exclusive contract has been terminated," the agency added. The agency apologised to their fans but added that the group would continue with the remaining six members, namely Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae and Kyujin. "We ask that you give lots of encouragement to Jinni, who will be walking a new path, and we also ask that NSWER give their warm support to the six members who will continue to grow and race towards their dreams," JYP Entertainment wrote. Since the announcement, Jinni's photograph has also been removed from her group's "artist" page on the JYP website. More About NMIXX As the newest girl group of one of South Korea's most prominent entertainment agencies, NMIXX debuted as a seven-member group in February this year with their first single, "O.O", as part of their debut single album called Ad Mare. Since then, they have released another single album, Entwurf, with the single from the album being "DICE". Most recently, they released their Christmas single titled "Funky Glitter Christmas" just two weeks ago. They also won their very first award, the Favourite New Artist award, at the 2022 MAMA Awards on 29 November this year. For context, she trained for six years after joining JYP Entertainment at the young age of 12, so to many fans, it was unlikely that she would "willingly" give up her chance at being a K-Pop idol after putting in so many years to try and debut. Additionally, she recently posted on Bubble (a platform for K-Pop idols to communicate directly with their fans) that she was excited for their next comeback (i.e. album/song release). Many commenters also agreed, saying that Jinni and the rest of her group seemed "less energetic" in recent months after their past few releases were seen as less successful due to their group's concept.
