Kim Seok-jin, better known as Jin from the South Korean boy band BTS, will start his military training from 13 Dec onwards. And he will be deployed near North Korea. Here's what you need to know. But Jin is 30 years old—how does it make any sense that he's only serving his military service now? Well, it turns out that in 2020, the South Korean government passed a bill allowing globally recognised K-pop artistes to postpone their enlistment age to 30. BTS, boasting almost 70 million on Instagram, naturally got to postpone their enlistment to 30 years old. Now, their time has come. The band's fanbase, ironically called "BTS Army", was shattered upon hearing the news of their idols' future enlistment. Many took to social media to air their devastation. BTS's Jin Deployed To A Frontline Boot Camp To make things worse for the fans, Jin is reportedly serving his military service in Yeoncheon, a town near the tense border with North Korea. Yeoncheon sits on the Korail railroad line linking Seoul, South Korea and North Korea. Over there, Jin will undergo five weeks of basic military training, including rifle shooting, grenade-throwing and marching practices.
