When someone is rescued from a vehicle that’s about to burst into flames, it usually occurs in a scene in an action movie, and usually involves a superhero.
The superhero then walks away calmly, as if he had just purchased a cup of bubble tea from a store.
But not all superheroes wear capes and underwear outside their pants; some superheroes are everyday, ordinary folks like you and me.
And when these brave individuals spot someone in danger, they’ll rush to save them even if it means risking their own safety.
2 People Rushed to Save Driver in CTE Before Car Burst Into Flames
A woman was rescued from her car yesterday (2 Nov) by two passers-by before the vehicle burst into flames.
She had crashed her car into a wall of a Central Expressway (CTE) tunnel, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Detailing the incident in a Facebook post, the SCDF said it was alerted to a vehicle fire in a tunnel along the CTE towards SLE at around 5:05pm that day.
When officers arrived, they found that a car had slammed into a wall in the tunnel and erupted into flames. Firefighters eventually extinguished the fire with one compressed air foam jet.
“SCDF’s investigation revealed that after the vehicle had crashed into the wall, two members of the public quickly rescued the driver to safety. Shortly after, the vehicle burst into flames,” it said.
“SCDF has reached out to the two good Samaritans and commend them for their quick-thinking and selfless act.”
Nice work.
The driver, identified as a 33-year-old woman, was later conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in a conscious state. No other injuries were reported.
Photos & Videos of Fire Emerge
Soon after the accident, photos and videos of its aftermath were shared online. One video showed a long line of motorists waiting outside the tunnel as smoke billowed out from its opening.
The same video then showed a black Honda Fit engulfed in flames at the leftmost lane in the tunnel:
Photos shared by the SCDF also showed the extent of the damage; the right side of the vehicle had been badly burnt, while the left side seems to have remained intact for the most part.
The wall of the tunnel has also been burnt black and damaged.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Commenting on SCDF’s post, some netizens said they were grateful for the actions of the two courageous individuals.
After all, if it weren’t for them, the driver may just have lost her life.
