Donald Trump. The name sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
It seems like after his loss in the 2020 US Presidential Elections, that name has been wiped off the media.
For two years, we have enjoyed the absence of the loudest and bluntest Twitter user in existence.
But now, he might be making his return.
Musk’s Twitter has Reinstated Trump’s Account
“If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me if Trump is coming back on this platform, Twitter would be minting money!” Musk announced.
After acquiring the company in a US$44 billion (~S$60.5 billion) deal, the Technoking of Tesla carried out a poll amongst Twitter users. They were to vote on whether Trump’s account should be reinstated.
51.8% of more than 15 million Twitter users voted for Trump’s return and true enough, Elon delivered.
“The people have spoken,” tweeted Musk.

Trump Might Not Return So Soon
The former US president, when previously asked about his return to Twitter, said, “I don’t see any reason for it.”
After his account was suspended in 2021, he launched his personal app, Truth Social, to continue projecting his online voice.
Some believe that he might not be returning to Twitter because of his financial commitments to Truth Social.
Truth Social is owned by Trump Media & Technology Group. Although its downloads (about three million) pale in comparison to those of Twitter’s, Trump has to continue using it as his platform and not Twitter.
Why?
By transitioning to Twitter, he might as well tell the public, “Please do not use Truth Social.” This would thereby cease continuation of his app, which is an unwise financial decision.

Trump’s Running in the Future Election
Trump has made it known that he would be running for president again in the 2024 US Presidential Elections.
When the time comes, he might choose to step back into Twitter. Twitter provides him the platform to not only reach more people, but also dominate the news.
In other words, Twitter is his proxy for garnering popularity.
Why Was He Banned in the First Place?
In 2021, he called the people who stormed the US Capitol “patriots”.
In a Tweet, Trump said, “The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”
“To all those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th,” he said in a second tweet.
In open support of rioting, Twitter said that he was “in violation of the Glorification of Violence Policy”.
Thus, he was slapped with a ban.
Now that he’s back, who knows what he’ll do.
Ban gone, bane back.
