And the award for the-most-ridiculous magistrate court charge goes to… PETALING JAYA! Here, apparently, you can go to court for something as small as pulling a student’s ear, as a mathematics teacher found out.
We’re not sure who went to court for the year 3 kid having their ears pinched, but this seems like a gross overreaction.
I mean, sure, you could complain to the school if your kid comes back home and cries to you, but damn. Feels like the parents here are the kind who would sue the ground if their kid trips and falls.
An example of a heinous crime.
Siti Noorhidayani Mohd Salamun, 27, also known as the math teacher in question, was charged for voluntarily causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code. Why there isn’t an offense for being a little bitch, I don’t know.
The idiom, “spare the rod, spoil the child” comes to mind here. We’re not even talking about a rod. It’s just a little pinch on the ear, for crying out loud.
Also, the alleged “crime” was committed last year June. The teacher had to post bail of RM1,500, and will be appearing in court this year April 7. That’s 10 months of waiting for court, because the teacher pulled an ear.
I’d pull out my hair at how ridiculous this is, but someone might charge me for voluntarily hurting myself.
