Touching Reunion of Young Man Returning to M’sia After Borders Reopen Got Almost a Million Views

Now that the land border between Malaysia and Singapore has finally opened, throngs of Malaysians and Singaporeans have finally been able to return home to their loving families.

After such a long time without being able to physically see their family, it’s no wonder that they are so jubilant about their long-awaited reunion.

For Malaysian TikTok users @sushiduo, it was the same for their older brother who returned home to Malaysia from Singapore after 2.5 years.

Their grandmother and parents weren’t in the loop about their son returning, so it was a huge and wonderful surprise for them.

In a TikTok video that has reached nearly 1 million views, their brother walked into the house and went straight into an embrace with their mother.

“Ah ma, who’s that?” one of the sisters behind the camera said to their grandma, while pointing to her older brother behind her.

The whole family then all moved towards their brother, fawning over him, as cameras from multiple perspectives captured the moving moment.

Their father eagerly waited (for a beat too long) with his arms wide open for the brother to finish his hug with his mom, before pulling him into another tight embrace.

“I missed you, Dad,” the brother said while holding him close to him.

Aww.

The younger sisters holding the cameras were shaking and sobbing in the background as their brother took turns hugging each family member—their grandma, then his sisters.

Now that all restrictions are easing up and land borders have opened, hopefully more and more families get to be reunited, especially in light of Ramadan and Hari Raya.
