Update on 29 October 2021, 2:38pm: 20YO Brandon has confirmed that he is, indeed, the person behind @Sgcickenrice. Read his statement here.
If you walk around the streets of Singapore, you’ll see hordes of people just sitting around and sighing while carrying large buckets.
These people, in case you don’t know, are waiting for the next episode of the K-drama NOC Saga, as we all are.
The good news is that while we wait, there’s a spin-off show that just released its first episode. Called “Guess Who With Xiaxue?” it was broadcast today on TikTok.
Tried to Stay Neutral During NOC Saga But Hates Cancel Culture
Just days after her explosive interview with NOC co-founder Sylvia Chan, online personality Xiaxue has provided a twist in the saga that even Nostradamus didn’t see coming.
In a video shared on her very new TikTok account, Xiaxue reveals the identity of the individual who she thinks is behind the now-infamous @sgcickenrice Instagram account.
Xiaxue starts by telling her followers that she has tried to stay neutral throughout the NOC saga, but can’t stand cancel culture, presumably because she herself was subjected to it last year.
In particular, she hates anonymous accounts that try to cancel others, because they have “so much power” and “free rein” to post what they want without any consequences. She also noted that the targets of these anonymous accounts can’t take legal action or lodge a police report because they have no idea who their adversaries are.
Her main gripe with this is that when such accounts publish allegations against you, it’s not always possible to refute or disprove them.
“Like for example, ok, if somebody says that they saw me kick a kitten today, how am I supposed to prove that I didn’t do such a thing?” she questioned, hopefully not in the company of any kittens.
Calling such accounts “f**king cowards*, Xiaxue said these accounts purport to “do the world a favour”, but are simply chasing clout, and relishing the attention they’re getting.
Reveals Alleged Identity of @Sgcickenrice
The influencer said that nothing gives her more satisfaction than uncovering the identity of the individuals behind anonymous accounts, adding that she did just that with someone who targeted her in the past.
She then provided some evidence as to who she believes could be behind the @sgcickenrice account.
In the video, Xiaxue points to one of the first videos posted by @sgcickenrice on its TikTok account.
Nothing catches the eye at first, but then Xiaxue zooms in on a particular image at the bottom of the second screenshot:
Xiaxue believes that the person pictured at the bottom is the one behind the @sgcickenrice account. She noted that the original post was later removed and reposted with his face cropped out, which she views as an incriminating sign.
Xiaxue, however, made sure to keep screenshots.
She identified him as a TikTok and Instagram user by the name of @baerendang. After doing some digging, she found out that @baerendang loves chicken rice (don’t we all?) and had also posted videos where he allegedly mocked Sylvia once the NOC saga started.
However, when @sgcickenrice removed all its posts from its Instagram account, @baerendang did the same with his videos on Sylvia, according to Xiaxue.
“Maybe they decided to be kind all at the same time”, Xiaxue quipped.
Of course, this is no confirmation that @baerendang is in fact the person behind the @sgcickenrice account. We’ll have to wait for his response before coming to a conclusion.
It should also be noted that @baerendang is affiliated with NOC, but the extent of it is unclear.
