When I first heard about this, the first word I had in mind was that this man is sick. Sorry, not just sick but probably mentally unwell.
Iโm sure all dog lovers would agree with me. Why would any perfectly normal person do that to any animal? What did they do to trigger your irritation?
Disclaimer: Super fan, madly-in-love-with-dogs lover here.

What happened?
45-year-old Yeo Poh Kwee was the culprit who inflicted pain to his female pet dog, named Yoyi, on 21 December 2016.
What did he do?
He allegedly ran down 20 floors while attaching himself to his toy poodle by a leash. To be exact, he ran down from levels 38 to 19 at a block of flats in Teban Gardens Road.
So after doing this cruel act, he abandoned Yoyi between levels 18 and 19 of the block that day.
Yes, he deserted that poor dog after causing unnecessary pain.
And guess what, he doesnโt even have a licence for keeping Yoyi, which is more than three months of age.
But justice still prevails for he was charged in court on Wednesday, 6 September 2017.
This is the first time Iโm thanking God for someone being charged in court. But he deserves it, doesnโt he? Weโre talking about animal cruelty here.
And if you think this is all that deranged guy did, youโre wrong.

What else did he do?
Mr Yeo also allegedly caused the death of another dog, a brown, male toy poodle named Brownie, on 22 November that same year.
Iโm seriously shaking with anger at this point. Does he have something against poodles?
His poodle apparently sustained injuries and he was accused of not taking the dog to the veterinarian for treatment.
What now?
This man even had the face to ask for an adjournment to settle his work assignments.
He has indicated that he would plead guilty, but come on, why would we need a delay for this charge? Giving him more time to indulge in other insane acts?

The case is fixed for mention in a community court on 11 October. I will pray for the day to come earlier.
And if he is declared to be guilty of causing unnecessary pain or suffering to those animals mentioned, he could be fined up to $15,000 and/or jailed for up to 18 months on each charge.
The maximum punishment for abandoning an animal is a $10,000 fine and 12 monthsโ jail; and for keeping a dog without a licence, a $5,000 fine.
Final words.
Iโm wondering if a fine and jail sentence would do justice to those two poor souls. Yes, they may be animals but theyโre still lives weโre talking about.
And this case is not an isolation. Last Christmas, Gerald Kok Zhin Oi, 23, reportedly flung his female toy poodle violently towards a bed, causing it to hit a wall and die.

Perhaps we should look into counselling for such people. Fines and jail sentences just wonโt do.
