Simei Resident Uses Corridor Outside HDB As Temporary Warehouse Like It’s Harvey Norman

Before I even go into any details, take a look at this image here.

At first glance, I honestly thought that this is a Harvey Norman refrigerator sale or something. I mean, why else would you line the refrigerators up like this, right?

It wasn’t until I noticed the door at the back that I realized that this is the corridor of a HDB flat.

Why are there so many refrigerators outside a flat? Is the owner selling frozen goods?

The refrigerators were found along the corridor of Blk 136, Simei Street 1.

The neighbour of the unit cluttered with refrigerators, known only as Madam Shen, said that the owner of said unit often clutters the corridor with items.

“I moved in here in November 2015, and my neighbour used to put bicycles outside, but it became more ridiculous – she has even placed sofas, dining tables, cabinets and television sets outside,” said Madam Shen.

“A few days ago, my neighbour placed seven large fridges outside her home. There’s just a 1m-wide space left to walk. Only one person can walk through at a time, it’s very cramped,” she added.

Whoa, sofas and dining tables? How do you even fit a dining table there?

No matter what, it’s still a fire hazard. I don’t think the refrigerators will save you from a fire either.

The owner of the refrigerators is a woman named Aisi. She is the boss of a moving company.

Apparently, due to a hole in the ceiling of her warehouse, she had moved her refrigerators to the corridor temporarily as she was afraid that the rainwater would damage the refrigerators.

She has also said that the ceiling is being repaired and would move the refrigerators back to the warehouse soon.

“The repairs just need a few days and will be finished in about two to three days, and it costs $800 to $1,000 to rent another warehouse space, so I brought the fridges home,” said Aisi.

Aisi said that she has also explained the situation to her neighbours and apologized.

Residents who do not remove objects which are placed in a hazardous manner even after receiving a written notice from HDB could face a fine of up to $2000.
