The word “daddy” used to be an innocent term to address your father when you were younger, but it has now been sexualised to used in a different manner.

Just ask Eden Ang.

It is one thing to ask your partner to call you daddy but another thing to ask underage minors who were supposed to be your students to call you daddy. Unfortunately, this tutor had to learn this the hard way.

M’sian Maths Tutor TikToker Resigned After Asking His Students to Call Him ‘Daddy’

A popular tutor in Malaysia who uses TikTok to teach math, Sir Uzairi, has been under fire these days. Apparently, he asked his students to call him daddy in a video which went viral recently.

In the video, he said, “Daddy and abah are different. I am your daddy, but your abah is the father who has been with you since you were born.”

It is unsure how is calling him daddy linked to teaching maths but many of the viewers were not too happy about his statement.

Sexual Grooming

Some of the netizens considered what he did to be “sexual grooming” while others call it “creepy and disgusting”.

On the other hand, some of his students supported him, saying they were able to differentiate sexual and non-sexual contexts. His supporters also blamed those reading the term in a sexualised manner to have a “dirty mind” so that is on them.

Tuition Agency Statement

As Uzairi was employed with an online tuition agency, MC Plus, his tuition agency, released a short statement on Twitter:

They mentioned that they will be taking appropriate action soon and investigations were underway.

All of his classes and seminars will be taken over by other tutors. A new timetable will also be released soon.

Apology

On the same day, Uzairi also took it to his Twitter page to apologise for his behaviour as an educator.

He said his casual remark on “daddy versus father” was supposed to be a joke but it spiralled into something “very serious”.

Thus, he tendered his resignation from MC Plus effective immediately. He was also prepared to face the consequences.
