An online post seems to think so. On 20 Mar, an online post claiming that the SPF issued an on-the-spot $150 fine for pedestrians who crossed the road while looking at their mobile phone went viral. Image: channelnewsasia.com In case you can't read it, the caption read: "They are desperately seeking money. Crossing road using hp, fine S$150 on the spot pay cash!!!!!!!!!!! KNN, money face!" The image was taken down but it was understood that it has been circulating on Whatsapp as well. The Singapore Police Force has stepped forward to say that this is #FakeNews, and the police do not collect cash on the spot. Instead, offenders have to pay via AXS, SAM or cashless payment via www.police.gov.sg/pay. And it's not against the law to cross the roads while looking at your handphone. Damn, what a pity. Foodpanda Deny Existence of Delivery Rider, Only To Verify He's One of Them Hours Later Usually, before a company big shot makes any public statement, they'll verify the facts first. So won't paiseh mah. But Food Panda Managing Director, Luc Andreani, made that exact mistake. When news of this masked delivery man went viral on the internet: Image: Facebook (Ah Shui) The caption of the post makes it look like a syndicate operating in Singapore. So Food Panda efficiently gave their response to the media. "This person is not a rider on (his) shift, but is falsely posing as a delivery rider” And their reason for this? Foodpanda riders are taught not to cover their faces when making deliveries. This seems like the making of an exciting developing story in Singapore. Foodpanda now says the delivery rider is indeed theirs, and this was just a case of a wrong address. Moral of the story? And possibly drove up birth rates as well. Taiwanese hit movie, Our Times, plucked at our heartstrings and made us think back to our own school days and first loves. And it's making a comeback. Recently, it was confirmed that the iconic movie will be having a sequel, perfect for those who want to see more of Lin Cheng-hsin and Hsu Tai-yu's happily-ever-after. While the movie won't be named Our Times 2 due to copyright issues, the movie will be directed and written by the same people behind the original movie. Even more bad news, the two main cast, Vivian Sung and Darren Wang will not be appearing in the movie, but it's rumoured that the female lead is an A-lister. He set two styrofoam boxes on fire and it spread throughout the Block 493 market, coffee shop and extended to the Block 494 coffee shop. On 20 Mar, new rules were imposed on bike-sharing operators like ofo and mobike. These bike-sharing companies will have to be licensed by LTA which will regulate the number of bicycles on the streets. The number of bicycles they can put on the street will depend on how well they manage indiscriminate parking and how their bicycles are used. Industry standard like geofencing technology will be used. So if users don't park the bicycle back in the designated parking area, they'll be charged continuously. Users who are caught parking in non-designated areas three times in a year will be barred from renting bicycles temporarily. In other words, since you can't appeal to the morality of Singaporeans via reasoning, they're playing hardball now. Sad but true. The passengers were in Mecca to perform the minor pilgrimage, according to the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS). Managed by local travel agency Abu Bakar Travel Services, a "number of passengers" were injured and taken to hospitals in Mecca.
