Do you vaguely remember that two months ago, a woman decided to make a wedding dress out of Singapore 4D tickets?

Well, the Tiktok user @lambeturahtkw is back at it again, this time with FairPrice plastic bags.

It’s slightly cheaper to gather used FairPrice plastic bags than spend $20,000 on betting slips to get the materials she needed for her dress, but the creativity and time needed to craft her next masterpiece was equally potent.

And the end results are absolutely fabulous.

It’s unclear if the person in the dress is the maker herself, but she truly strutted like a Queen in front of a FairPrice outlet and did the dress justice.

The Process of Making The FairPrice Dress

Like her previous project, @lambeturahtkw made no secret of what she was doing.

On 5 May, she replied to one of her followers who suggested that she should make a dress out of plastic bags.

The background music is mysterious but promising as she pulls out a FairPrice plastic bag that’s stuffed to the brim with more plastic bags, before the perspective shifts to a gathering stack of bags that she’s straightening out.

Then six days before the final grand reveal (13 May), she posted a two-part video.

The first video features the same plastic bags, now neatly folded into strips and shows the rough sketch of what she envisions the dress will look like by the end.

The second video could make any modern-day seamstress or tailor cry, as she films down the process of her painstakingly stitching the plastic bags together to make the dress.

For the betting slips, she and her friend had stapled them together, but this dress apparently requires more finesse like hand sewing.

Just remembering the end-product, the countless number of plastic bags there were, and how much work must have gone into the piece to make the dress voluminous with seamless frills, is enough to make my hands twitch with phantom pains.

The Grand Reveal

For the cherry on top, she paraded the dress right outside a FairPrice Finest outlet, ombre hair tied into a casual braid with roses tucked between the strands, the flower bouquet sharing the same colour palette as her source of inspiration.

We get a glimpse of the plastic dragging along the floor as the model does a dramatic spin.

If you pay closer attention, the sweetheart neckline of the dress is hemmed. That’s some serious skill right there.

It looks fairly light too, which is a plus in my books.

Naturally, the dress got the attention it deserved, both at the shooting location and online.

Her series of TikTok videos, from making the dress to the final reveal, have gathered a total of 251,400 views.

As to how the model managed to get outfitted in her dress, @lambeturahtkw has a behind-the-scenes video where they were prepping in the toilet.

Better yet, the toilet conveniently had a long aisle for the model to sashay down, which the model did.

It will definitely take more than a pair of hands to put a person in that dress… How does one get into the dress actually? Is there a zipper of some sorts hidden in the folds of plastic?

In any case, a big kudos to the dress maker!

If she’s capable of making such beautiful dresses with the strangest materials, it’s unfathomable what gems she can create with actual fabric in her hands.
