A three-year-old girl has died from COVID-19, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Wednesday (14 Sep).
She is the third coronavirus death involving a child under the age of 12 in Singapore.
In response to media enquiries, MOH stated that the girl died on Tuesday.

Her antigen rapid test (ART) result came back as positive on 9 Aug, and she was admitted into the hospital on 13 Aug.
On 13 September, the patient passed away, and the cause of death was said to be anoxic brain injury due to cardiac arrest and COVID-19 infection.
Anoxic brain injury occurs when there is a lack of oxygen to the brain.
The Health Ministry added that the girl had a past history of multiple medical conditions before her COVID-19 infection.
It extends their deepest condolences to the girl’s family.

On 27 June, the first patient below the age of 12 to die from COVID-19 was an 18-month-old boy named Zaheer Raees Ali.
His father, Mr Basharath Ali, mentioned that his son’s temperature reached 41°C, and was subsequently hospitalised. He even sent out a plea on LinkedIn for a doctor to save his son.
Zaheer died of encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) due to COVID-19, as well as respiratory syncytial virus and enterovirus.

On 17 July, a four-year-old girl passed away due to COVID-19 pneumonia.
Both of them had no past medical history.
Earlier this Tuesday (13 Sep), Health Minister Ong Ye Kung announced the COVID-19 vaccine rollout for children under five years old, as well as booster shots for children aged between six months to 11 years old.
The vaccination drive is set to begin in late October or early November.
