Mount Agung is still on its highest alert despite the aiport opening back to the public.
How do I say this without sounding like a total *****?
You know what, I can’t sugarcoat things.
The active volcano seems to be attracting a bunch of moronic tourists…
I can’t imagine why would an active volcano attracts tourists unless they are suffering from an existential crisis.
Mount Agung has become the new selfie destination as tourists are snapping pictures outside the 10km exclusion zone for a quick snap, AsiaOne reported.
Yes, a live active volcano that is spewing out grey plumes of smoke as your backdrop might get more likes on Instagram
Just take a look..
These thrill seekers definitely live life on the fast lane.
A very Instagram-worthy location would be the scenic Lempuyang Temple aka “Gates of Heaven”.
Typically you will be posing against picturesque skies, but now your picture will be more edgy, with thick blankets of smoke coming out from an active volcano.
One of the tourists, Australian Jill Powers, told Daily Mail Australia that she planned to travel to Bali to see the volcano.
“Sounds stupid but yes, I have it on my bucket list to see a live volcano. I think it would be my only chance to tick it off,” she said.
I don’t know whether to cry or laugh. But this trend is somewhat making me think that there might be some deep-seated issues among social media users.
But I will leave that issue for another day.
