We all love Teo Heng, don’t we?
The main attraction is always the cheap prices of a karaoke room, and that low price is almost like a disruptor that makes singing so much more affordable now, compared to, say, ten years ago.
There is nowhere else in Singapore where you can find a small room with a great karaoke system at $8 per hour.
But what do you know about this chain other than the fact that it’s cheap?
Teo Heng is Clean
Teo Heng is CLEAN. When we mean clean, we mean really clean. Every time we visit Teo Heng, it is spotless and well maintained. The equipment is well kept and the floor will be swept free from crumbs and litter. The sofa is wiped clean and well maintained too. This is already a big selling point as some of the bigger and pricey karaoke tend to overlook cleanliness.
No Frills
There is no extra charge. You are not forced to eat and drink only from what they are selling. In fact, you can bring in any food and drink you want, as long as you do not bring in alcohol, which the staff are pretty firm on, even if you didn’t drink it (they can keep it for you). Now, even if you want to tabao char kway teow to eat while singing your heart out, Teo Heng will not stop you.
Simple drinks available at $1
Most singers overlook the fact that Teo Heng does sell simple canned drinks at $1 a can. If you have depleted all the drinks you brought, you can buy another one for $1 from Teo Heng.
The affordable price of the canned drink is a blessing as even kopitiams will charge you a minimum $1.20 per can now. Here’s a hack: if you’re thirsty in a shopping mall and there’s a Teo Heng outlet, get your drinks there. It’s way cheaper than any shops in the mall!
Free Wifi at all Teo Heng outlets
Do you know that you have access to free wifi at all Teo Heng KTV outlets? That’s right! It is free for all customers and you can make use of it to post videos of your singing friends to Facebook without using your 4G data plan. Or even better, do a live-stream of your friends if they’re singing well. Or singing badly. (I’ll go for the latter)
Great selection of songs at Teo Heng
For those who have not been to Teo Heng, fret not: their songs selection is bad. In fact, we find the selection of songs to be comparable to the pricier places. They have new and old songs in English, Chinese, Cantonese and even Korean.
Great Karaoke System
We have never faced a breakdown in their karaoke system at Teo Heng karaoke before. It is also a fantastic one with good sounds and the system always wowed us. We have even thought of purchasing their system for our home – which leads us to the next point.
Karaoke System can be purchased for home use.
Yes! You can purchase their whole system for home use. Their sound system, software systems and all the songs in their database. They also provide updates for new songs whenever available. This is only available at Teo Heng Katong, located at Katong Shopping Centre.
Bubble teas are available at Teo Heng for purchase
You can purchase bubble teas at Teo Heng at affordable prices. Their bubble teas taste wonderful and are definitely comparable to Gong Cha and Koi. The best thing is that the prices for these bubble teas are lower than that from other popular bubble shops
Friendly customer service
The customer service at all Teo Heng outlet is friendly and polite. We have not experienced rude customer service personnel in all these years where we patronise Teo Heng. It is a better experience than most other bigger karaoke places that we have been to, and usually, they’ll call you a few hours in advance to remind you of your booking.
Family Oriented
Teo Heng is very much a family-oriented karaoke. It is always bright lit and has no feel of a sleazy place. Young children are welcome as there are many children songs available on their software. It is definitely a place where the whole family can enjoy singing together without fear of coming face to face with unpleasant situations!
We find it our duty to also remind you to book way early in advance! We have the unfortunate experience of not being able to get a room during non-peak hours, even when booking a couple of days in advance.
The best practice is to book at least 2 weeks in advance for a good chance to get a room at peak hours and 1 week in advance for non-peak hours.
