To push with your left foot or your right foot – that is the question.
When faced with a sudden turn while you’re driving, it can be confusing in that split second as to what to do.
One wrong move can bring about damage and destruction, too.

So in a driving crash course, they’re sure to teach you about where to step in order to brake or accelerate, which is usually done with the right foot.
Unfortunately, sometimes your muscles just don’t get it right.
Man Crashes Into HDB Pillar
On the 24th of July, residents living in a certain housing estate in Bedok Reservoir View would’ve heard a loud crash coming from below them, or worse, felt the impact from their homes.
At about 2pm in the afternoon, a man had crashed his car into the pillars of Block 774, Bedok Reservoir View, after a mishap as he was driving along.Â
The 71-year-old driver was apparently in shock after crashing his car and remained in the driver’s seat, needing several residents’ assistance to move him out.
According to one of the residents, she came down to help out after hearing a loud noise while at home.
She recognised him as one of her elderly neighbours who happened to stay in the same block, and immediately checked on his condition.
Thankfully, the man did not seem to be injured and was sent to Changi General Hospital shortly after while still conscious.

His wife and daughter had also rushed down to the scene after the accident.
Stepped On the Wrong Pedal
Upon recovering from the shock, the man told neighbours that he had stepped on the wrong pedal while driving out from the carpark, mistakenly accelerating.
In the aftermath, the man’s car was seen wedged into one of the block’s pillars while on a patch of grass, with an incense burner lying on its side beside the car after being knocked down.
A yellow sign had also been knocked off its pole in the fray and lay behind the car.
Since the carpark was beside it, it was believed that the man drove his car out and somehow ended up driving onto the grass patch, running into the incense burner and sign.

The police confirmed that they had received a report at about 2:07pm, and that the case is currently under investigation.
Not An Uncommon Occurrence
Actually, people crashing their cars into HDB blocks aren’t so much of a rare occurrence as one might possibly think, despite the safety threat it poses.
This year, back in March, another man had also accidentally stepped on his accelerator while exiting the car park and crashed into a HDB block’s void deck.
However, it had a much stronger impact – the car had crashed into a pillar so hard that debris was strewn around the scene.
And in another incident, a lorry drove into the void deck of a HDB block, nearly causing a huge accident if it had not rammed into a tree in front of the block, which took most of the blow.

Hopefully, this serves as a reminder to always be careful and check on whether you’re about to step on the wrong pedal, for everyone’s safety.
